BASIC WOOD TURNING

My 2 day course will take you from nothing to competent beginner turner. There will be as much hands-on time as you want. The idea is to have fun as well. A third day is optional, if you cannot bear to part with the lathe.
I had been woodworking for some years before I obtained a lathe. It’s like a Potters’ Wheel. The work takes shape quickly before your eyes without any graft!
The course concentrates on a project, which is a three-legged stool. There will also be a bowl to turn and if time allows - a pepper grinder. All materials are provided, and you will be able to take home something of which to be proud. If there is anything else you would like to attempt, I can advise. Certainly if you later buy your own lathe, you will with practice, be able to attempt anything. That is my intention. Kit Davidson

TARIFF

Basic Woodturning - £75 per day.

Basic wood turning includes all materials, choice of 2 lathes, safety equipment and clothing. A set of notes is provided. The workshop is fitted with dust extraction and is heated in winter. The workshop window overlooks the valley. A light lunch is provided.

Accommodation can be arranged separately at £30 per day for Bed and Breakfast. An evening meal with wine can be supplied at £10. Students may wish to combine a family holiday with their course. Up to 6 people can be accommodated in the Holiday cottage on site. Click on the Ty Brith link.
